Why Are Games Important For Children?

Playing games allows the child to discover his body and the world around him, acting and reacting with the outside world. The child establishes bonds of affection with his family, because this is the first place of learning and communication. Thus, the child develops his language, because the game allows him to learn to communicate and understand their mother tongue. In playing games the child strengthens their bones and helps to improve cardiopulmonary function of their growing body. The game itself also helps strengthen muscles by moving from one place to another. The game esprit and curiosity to discover the world makes him learn to walk, run, jump, etc.. In addition, the game helps him sleep better, because in the game, it expends energy.

The child’s learning begins with the game. In this regard, Robert Jeudon said: “It’s in the game and in educating the gesture as a child that will be established for the future, the harmony between the emotional, motor skills and intelligence, which depend on the personality of the future child.”


Sports and physical activities help the child develop his gross motor skills, such as climbing, crawling, rolling over the side, standing firm, throwing, pull and push objects, and running between others.

The verbal and expressive language help the child develop his language. Activities such as singing, listening to stories, repeating words, make facial gestures, scream and others.

The preschool will help him develop his fine motor skills like cutting, drawing, coloring, assembling blocks, and stacking objects amongst others.

The interaction with others is an important development of self-esteem. When the child receives encouragements, gestures of affection and laughter, they feel appreciated, important and indispensable as a member of his family.
